About Us

Fremantle Hospital and Health Service (Fremantle Hospital, Kaleeya Hospital, Rottnest Island Nursing Post) is part of the South Metropolitan Area Health Service (SMAHS).
The SMAHS embraces Royal Perth Hospital (and annexes), Fremantle Hospital and Health Service, Armadale Health Service (Armadale- Kelmscott Memorial Hospital and Bentley Hospital) also Rockingham Peel Group (Rockingham General Hospital, Murray District Hospital, Adult Community (Mandurah Community Health Centre).  NOTE: The State's new hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital, is currently under construction at Murdoch in the South Metropoloitan area.

Fremantle Hospital is an acute-care, public teaching hospital with a 24 hour Emergency Departments for both adults and children.  It has a tertiary-level Cardiothoracic Surgery Service, Coronary Care Unit, Cardiac Catheter Theatres, Cardiac Testing Unit, Cardiac Research capacity, Intensive Care Unit, a Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine Department, a Nuclear Medicine facility and a Paediatric ward.
