THANK YOU P.E.A.C.H.
P.E.A.C.H. is an acronym for
Personel Employed by Alcoa Charity Help
PEACH has been operating
since 1979 and started when a small group of Alcoa employees who wanted to do something to
assist those in need in the community came up with the idea of forming a charity fund.
The PEACH Trust Fund is a
unique charity fund conceived, funded and administered by the employees of Alcoa
(West Australian operations). Just over 1000 employees currently make regular
contributions (via payroll deduction), to the Fund.
Since its inception in 1979
PEACH has donated more than $2.2 million to various community endeavours. This funding has
been distributed among community organisations providing services in the areas of welfare,
health, family, children, safety, substance abuse and social improvement. Originally
started at Pinjarra, the fund now incorporates all locations.
PEACH, by way of their personal donation, aims
to benefit not only the employees but all community members who may have a need to utilise
the services assisted, or already have a family member or neighbour utilising such a
service or may at some point come across someone who has benefited from our support. By
way of such support PEACH also supports the purchasing of equipment for
medical research which is an ongoing benefit to all.
PEACH sponsors
organisations, rather than individuals, as this widens the community benefit.
PEACH gives
preference to those human and health care organisations operating in or providing services
to, communities in which Alcoa employees and their families live, work or possibly
impacted.
Our donated dollar remains
in WA. The types of equipment provided extends from varieties of office equipment, medical
and research equipment, outdoor equipment for activities (mainly for disadvantaged people)
camps, search and rescue, emergency services, mental health and school chaplaincy programs
to name a few!
PEACH takes the time to
personally visit each applicant seeking assistance. This enables the organisation to
fully explain their need, gives PEACH an insight as to how the organisation runs, thus a
more true and understanding assessment results. This process is very valuable as an
application alone on paper does not reflect the true need of the organisation.
Whilst PEACH does not do the
hands on work their generosity enables the recipients to carry out their goals
From this wonderful early
vision, PEACH is now a benchmark not only for own employees, but also other
corporate companies who are now implementing similar programs within their own
organisations based on the success of PEACH.

THANKS TO
"LOTTERYWEST" FOR THEIR CONTINUED SUPPORT.

The members of
the Fremantle Heart Patients Support Group (Inc) together with the Management Committee
wish to offer sincere thanks for the Grants that have enabled the purchase of
several computer systems, greatly assisting committee with the day to day running of
the group and also enabling contact by email between members of the Executive and hospital
staff.
These generous
Grants assist the group to provide the daily services of the Cardiac Support Service, (who
are all volunteers and heart patients themselves). The volunteer supporters are
rostered on duty to offer support to alleviate the anxiety felt by many patients who are
possibly attending for a test procedure for the first time. The Volunteer Support
Service is recognised as a valuable part of the services provided by the Department of
Cardiology at Fremantle Hospital.
